These gardening workshops are made possible through the Walmart-Evergreen green grants that Dallington Pollinators community garden received in Spring 2013. They will be conducted by Skye Vandenberg, Program Assistant for Urban Agriculture at Evergreen Brickworks.

Be a DP volunteer !

Bring out the gardener in you and join our group of volunteers and help us grow and tend the garden. By volunteering you will:

Become stewards of the environment

Learn new skills and gain hands-on experience

Get involved in a healthy activity

Give back to your community

 

Garden schedule for watering, weeding and general maintenance

Tuesday: 3.30pm – 5.00pm

Thursdays: 4.00pm – 6.00pm

Sundays: 3.00 pm – 5.00 pm

 

If it rains, then our garden meeting will cross over to the next scheduled day.

High school students can earn their volunteer hours by working at the garden.

Volunteer leader from Evergreen will be working with the Pollinators once a week.

Subject: Nominate a Garden for the 2014 North York Great Front Gardens Contest
 
Dear North York Resident,
 
The fourth annual North York Great Front Gardens Contest recognizes gardeners who beautify our city. We need your help to make sure that all the great front gardens in North York are nominated.
 
All gardens with a street address in the area bounded by the following streets are eligible for nomination:
  • Hwy 401 on the south
  • Steeles Avenue on the north
  • Allen Road/Dufferin Street on west
  • Victoria Park Avenue on the east
 
It’s easy to nominate a garden, just send an email to info@northyorkgardenclub.ca with the following details:
·         Garden address
·         Nearest major intersection
·         Gardener’s name (optional)
  • Category – there are four categories:
    1. Residential, traditional – a garden with a lawn
    2. Residential, environmental/ alternative – a garden with little or no lawn 
    3. Condos, townhouse complexes & apartment buildings – street front gardens
4.    Non-residential spaces – schools, places of worship, businesses, hospitals, etc.
 
 
The nomination deadline is Monday July 7, 2014.  Please send us your nominations as soon as possible.
